A fine Scottish 18th century  mahogany longcase clock circa 1760

Description

The 8-day  movement having a brass engraved arch dial in a mahogany case decorated with inlay. The hood with swan-neck pediment also with inlaid decoration, brass capped Corinthian columns and original brass finial.

During the 18th century Falkirk was a highly renowned centre of clockmaking. Clock historian Brain Loomes refers to James Hendrie  making clocks in Falkirk between 1739 and 1750
